Photovoltaic technology is some of the most exciting green, renewable technology available. As energy prices increase, more and more families and businesses have recognized the need for a more sustainable energy source. In response to this growing recognition, Solar energy demand has grown by 20-25% per year for the last 20 years, and the cost has been dropping! This decline is the result of several factors: a) increasing efficiency of solar cells, b) improvements in manufacturing technology, and c) economies of scale. We can offer PV systems at costs lower than the best in the country.  Currently, our turn-key grid-tie systems cost approximately $4.75-7.55 per watt DC, before rebates, incentives and credits (which will cut the installed costs significantly!) These systems employ the highest quality components available, not cut rate parts or knock-offs. 

Residential PV systems typically are 1000W - 10,000W in DC power rating. Commercial photovoltaic systems range anywhere from 2000W to utility-scale megawatt Solar farms. Again, the Federal government allows a 30% tax credit for eligible solar systems. For these reasons, solar has become affordable for many residential customers and a very good financial decision for most businesses.

Because every house is different and every person's needs are different, we believe in designing each system for our customer's specific application. You will not see any "kits" on our web site!  We typically offer only highest-quality components, like SMA inverters, SolarWorld modules, and UniRac mounting solutions, among others.  However, if you have preferences, we will happily accomodate your input.  We will work with you to design a photovoltaic system that meets your needs for the lowest possible cost. 

We are trained and certified to install UniSolar and Flexlight photovoltaic modules for those applications where a low profile, thin-film amorphous flexible solar module is best. We have installed framed modules from every major manufacturer, including Evergreen, Sharp, SolarWorld, BP, MageSolar, Kaneka, Mitsubishi, Kyocera, and Ninghbo. We have experience with 1000W residential PV through 30kW commercial systems.

How much savings can I expect from my PV system?  Here is a good formula for determining the output of your solar array:

DC watts x 85% overall efficiency factor (inverter, wire losses, deviations from STC, etc.) = AC output.
AC output x insolation (for Melbourne expect 4.75 hours per day annual average) = Watt-hours generated per day. (Wh / 1000 = kWh.)

For example, a 5250W DC PV system will produce the below expected power:
5250W x 4.75 hrs / 1000 = 24.93 kWh DC per day
24.93 kWh DC x 85% = 21.2 kWh AC per day
X 365 days per year = 7742 kWh AC per year
/ 12 = 645 kWh AC per month.  You can determine your savings by simply mulitplying your kWh x $/kWh.  We measure and track most of our PV systems and have found that our systems exceed the industry standard in efficiency by as much as 5-8%.
